Hollyland LARK MAX 2 gains acoustic certification for wireless audio performance

Hollyland’s LARK MAX 2 wireless microphone system has received acoustic certification following third-party testing by the Suzhou Institute of Acoustic Technology.

Hollyland says the tests were carried out to validate the LARK MAX 2’s voice clarity, distortion control and signal performance. The system is aimed at creators, filmmakers, interview teams and production crews who need wireless audio for solo or multi-person shoots.

Key features and test results

Hollyland highlights the following results from the certification report:

  • POLQA sound quality score: 4.37 out of 5 in super-wideband mode
  • Maximum undistorted SPL: 128 dB SPL
  • Frequency response: described as smooth and flat, with a slight high-end lift
  • Total harmonic distortion: claimed to remain low across key voice frequencies
  • Noise performance: high signal-to-noise ratio under standard test conditions
  • AI noise cancellation: designed to reduce background noise in difficult recording environments
  • Multi-person recording: supports up to four transmitters connected to one receiver
  • Use cases: interviews, documentaries, livestreaming and fast-paced video production

What it means for creators

On paper, the LARK MAX 2 is positioned as a wireless microphone system for creators who need dependable speech capture without a complicated setup. The support for up to four transmitters should make it useful for interviews, podcasts, documentary work and small crew productions.

The headline figure is the 128 dB SPL maximum undistorted sound pressure level, which suggests the system should cope with louder environments without clipping as easily. Hollyland also points to a flat frequency response and low distortion, both of which matter when recording dialogue that needs to sit cleanly in an edit.

The certification was carried out by Suzhou Acoustic Testing Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the Suzhou Institute of Acoustic Technology. Hollyland says the three-day test process covered six core acoustic metrics, using accredited laboratory facilities including an anechoic chamber, semi-anechoic chamber and specialist electroacoustic test rooms.

Price and availability

RRPs generally starting around £140 for the Solo kit

Hollyland says the LARK MAX 2 is designed to give creators clear, natural wireless audio backed by independent acoustic testing.
